Support Revolutionary Spaces
Contribute to the COVID-19 Resiliency Fund
In this critical year as we launched the new organization, Revolutionary Spaces was poised to bring more than 250,000 people to the Old State House and Old South Meeting House. By merging organizations and uniting the stories of formal and popular politics, we created a space for our community to gather together and explore our stake in the nation’s unfinished struggle to create and sustain a free society.
Exactly one week before the effects of the pandemic reached Boston, we had opened a new exhibit, Reflecting Attucks, which explores the figure of Crispus Attucks and his legacy, reflecting on how he has come to inspire so many causes across the centuries. Just as we began to unveil a slate of dynamic programming to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Boston Massacre, we were forced to close our doors due to the current public health crisis, forgoing admission fees and merchandise sales that account for more than 70% of our annual revenue.
Nevertheless, we know our mission cannot wait until physical distancing eases. So, within days, our staff moved an enormous body of work online, empowering a national audience to learn from our past and build a more just and equitable future.
Even with the benefit of cost-saving measures and government assistance, we still project a deficit of nearly $250,000 in the first half of this year. To close this gap, we have launched the COVID-19 Resiliency Fund. Help us seize this opportunity to continue the work of democracy captured so singularly by the history of our two buildings.
The need for broader civic engagement could not be more urgent. If you are able, we hope you will consider making a contribution of any size today. A gift to the COVID-19 Resiliency Fund will have an immediate impact in support of our outstanding professional staff, building virtual learning programs, and maintaining our historic buildings.
